Etio-Canadian Azawent Community

Women's Program

Our Senior Women's program is dedicated space where women in our community come together to connect, share, and thrive.  We honor the strength, wisdom, and life experiences of our elder women by offering culturally meaningful programs that support their well-being, social connection, and empowerment.  From health and wellness workshops to traditional craft sessions and social gatherings, we create opportunities for senior women to build community, celebrate culture, and feel supported every step of the way.

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new program coming in June 2025.  This initiative has been thoughtfully designed to serve our community in meaningful ways, and we can't wait to share it with you.

The successful completion of the Women’s United project marks a significant milestone for the Etio-Canadian Azawent Association (ECAA) and the senior women it serves. Designed as a culturally tailored space for empowerment and connection, the program provided participants with vital opportunities to foster meaningful relationships, share life wisdom, and access wellness resources.

Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive, with members highlighting how the initiative effectively reduced social isolation and created a "home away from home" for elder women. In testimonials shared by participants, many expressed deep gratitude for the culturally relevant environment, noting that the project not only honored their heritage but also provided them with a renewed sense of purpose and a stronger support network within the Ottawa-Gatineau region. This success underscores the ECAA’s commitment to ensuring that Ethio-Canadian seniors lead healthy, active, and dignified lives.

We are proud to announce the successful launch of our 1st Women's Unity Program, a milestone event dedicated to empowering, connecting, and uplifting senior women in our community.  This inaugural gathering marked the beginning of a purposeful journey toward creating a strong, supportive network where senior women can share experiences, foster meaningful relationships, and grow together.  We look forward to continuing this important work and expanding the impact of this program in the months to come.
