Mission

We are dedicated to supporting Ethiopian and Eritrean seniors, women, and youth in the Ottawa-Gatineau National Capital Region by offering vital services and building a vibrant, inclusive community. Arrange of programs- including health and wellness workshops, educational seminars, meal deliveries, facilitate transportation and cultural events; we strive to empower seniors to lead healthier, more connected lives by preserving their heritage and providing access to essential resources. We help our community thrive and live with dignity and purpose by:

Purpose

Cognizant science, education, economic wellbeing and technological advances transformed the lives of seniors to live longer, ECAA envisions to create an environment where every senior feels at home and respected. Through its work, ECAA is committed to delivering care, connection, and support to our seniors by:

  1. Hosting monthly gatherings at the Bronson Centre by creating a safe, inclusive environment where seniors are valued and supported;

  2. Building a strong, and sustained relationships with diverse communities including youth and children;

  3. Sharing vital information and resources with seniors and their generation by creating opportunities for interaction among seniors and 2nd generation youth;

  4. Organizing  lectures on subject matters important to seniors in leadership, social, economic, and health that enhances members’ awareness; 

  5. Offering first hand help through meal delivery, document assistance, transportation and technology support including annual tax filling;

  6.  Empowering Etio-Canadian youth through intergenerational education programs that promote cultural identity

Believing in the extraordinary potential of older adults, we created ECAA where they can thrive and participate, know that seniors’ contributions are valued, and enjoy access to opportunities and support them to be kept abreast in the tech savvy world of theirs.
 

In addition to our senior-focused initiatives, the Etio-Canadian Azawent Association warmly welcomes individuals from all walks of life and mixed age groups. We organize monthly youth gatherings, offering a unique platform where our knowledgeable and skilled seniors share their wisdom, experiences, and cultural heritage with 2nd  generations of their own. Vision

Envision a seniors’ community of Ethiopian descent to:

  •  live a happy, active and healthy lifestyle;

  • have an opportunity to live a meaningful and active productive life;

  • promote social, cultural, educational interests while values and traditions are maintained.
